Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
- Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.
- Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
- Customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.
- Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
This standard is the most time consuming when it comes to the actual design of instruction. Choosing the best multimedia to deliver lesson content is critical when considering students needs and preferences. The actual design phase follows a comprehensive analysis of students skills and learning styles. Fully engaging all students while allowing for student-driven learning to take place demands that a teacher create a learning environment that can easily adapt to a variety of students. Formative assessments can point out areas needing adjustments while summative assessments give an overall idea of learning.
My slide presentation, podcast, and iMovie are attached to demonstrate multimedia learning experiences. While my slide presentation is rather basic when compared to some other digital tools, it is still a great study resource for students and can be customized to fit the individual needs. A podcast is something that can be listened to in place of an actual face-to-face lecture. It can also be used as an assessment tool by asking students to record lesson reflections. The iMovie is a combination of an audio recording and a slide show that incorporates animated effects that can be useful to engage students in the learning process. It can also be given as a class project to measure comprehension of subject matter.

FUTURE LEARNING GOALS
In going forward, my goals include developing my skills at creating assessments. The assessment assignments for IT 645 were simplistic in design as a result of the limitations when using free applications. I would like to learn about putting together assessments that are on a more involved level of testing perhaps for a higher grade level. My challenge would be to then create lessons that deliver a higher degree of content, thus requiring a different testing method.
